The Beal Group Supports The Boys and Girls Club of San Dieguito

Jordan Beal, President, and CEO of Beal Real Estate, Nacole Gray, Marketing Director of Beal Real Estate along with Blake Johnson, Director of Development at the San Diego Boys and Girls Club of San Dieguito discuss Beal Real Estate’s partnership with the Boys and Girls Club of San Dieguito and why this club is particularly special to them.

At Beal Real Estate, giving back to the community is of high importance. The team at Beal Real Estate shares why they choose to give back to the community and why they chose the Boys and Girls Club. Beal Real Estate partnered up with the Boys and Girls Club of San Dieguito in order to raise money for the club. As part of their efforts to raise money for the Boys and Girls Club of San Dieguito, Beal Real Estate produced and hosted “Cedros Open House where guests enjoyed h’ordeuvres, live music, and wine at Carruth Cellars on Cedros Avenue. By hosting this event, allowed the community to become involved and active, and also gave the community an opportunity to meet the Beal Real Estate team and become familiar with the charity.

Blake Johnson of the San Diego Boys and Girls Club of San Dieguito explains the importance of hosting these types of events and how these events directly impact the Boys and Girls Club. Partners like Beal Real Estate, who are willing to keep their dollars local, are the reason that the Boys and Girls Club is able to say “yes” to every child that walks through their door. At the Boys and Girls Club, no child has ever turned away. That is one of the goals of the Boys and Girls Club which is critical as a social safety net to the local community. According to Johnson, the dollars and donations that the Boys and Girls Club receives are “spent right on the ground,” and allow for them to provide a better service to every child in the community. They are one of those organizations that make every dollar stretch. Whether it is their gym, their pool, their youth art academy, or their Montessori school, all of these components are bolstered and funded by donors, and the community greatly benefits from this. It is a place for children to join at a young age, grow, and later walk out with success stories.

People often drive by the Boys and Girls club, but few actually know about what the club has to offer the members of the community. Nicole Gray notes that it was incredibly heartwarming to hear about the history and heritage that is passed on at the club. Blake Johnson adds that the Boys and Girls Club serves over 10,800 kids every year, and allows children to start playing sports and music as early as their middle school years when otherwise these children would have to go elsewhere to play sports and music, which could be much more costly.

when otherwise these children would have to go elsewhere to play sports and music, which could be much more costly. It is the donors and the help from partners like Beal Real Estate that makes it possible to keep the facility open, running, clean, and most importantly, to provide these opportunities for children that otherwise may have not had them. The help that the club receives allows them to open up the world to kids in this community.

A misconception about the Boys and Girls Club of San Dieguito is that because of its zip code and area code, the club has it all set and doesn’t need any funds. The reality is that about 27% of the 10,800 children who attend the club are on a free introduced lunch plan. At the San Dieguito location, the club serves people of about five different zip codes- not all those who come to the club actually have the Solana Beach zip code. Johnson notes that they see parents driving their kids to the club who live on opposite sides of the county, but they bring their kids to the San Dieguito club so that they can be close to their children while they are at work. It is critical that these kids who are going to school and have free introduced lunches in the summer can come to the club and have their needs taken care of. At the Boys and Girls Club, they make sure that the children have a solid place to be, to play, to learn, and to be taken care of. That is why it is extremely important to have events such as the one hosted by the Beal Real Estate team.

In addition to the wonderful environment that the Boys and Girls Club provides for the children, it is also a great place to be to prepare the children for college and furthering their education. Around 97% of kids that are part of a boys and girls club go on to graduate high school, and 88% of these kids go on to graduate from college. The Boys and Girls Club likes to be able to tell every single kid, “you are great, you can be great, and you can go to college.” The Keystone Leadership Program at the Boys and Girls Club is at every one of the team clubs. The program is a college and career readiness program that the club offers, and provides kids in the program with college tours.

If you want to come to one of the clubs and if you have kids that might want to go to one of the clubs, visit the Boys and Girls Club website, where all of the programs and information about the club, including information about college scholarships, are listed. The Club provides kids a lot more than just doing their homework and having fun. The Boys and Girls Club is a safe place for kids to play, thrive, and call home. Thanks to companies such as our team at Beal Real Estate, it is no wonder that with over 50 years of serving this community that the Boys and Girls Club of San Dieguito is the longest-standing youth-serving community!
